“Folgore”…e si moriva

Il titolo del post è il titolo di un libro che racconta l’epopea dei parà nel 1942-43 in Africa settentrionale. Va bene anche come titolo per il post in questione, dato che c’entrano i 6 soldati morti pochi giorni fa in Afghanistan.

E’ singolare come questi avvenimenti scatenino una serie di reazioni che, sinceramente, hanno poco significato.
C’è chi li considera mercenari (“Sono professionisti pagati, affari loro”…no guarda che erano sei persone…), chi eroi (ok, ma allora tutti i morti sul lavoro sono eroi…), chi sbotta (“Riportiamoli tutti a casa”), chi cade dal pero (“Ma questa non è una missione di pace!”…eh…buongiorno principessa…).

Personalmente penso che siano effettivamente dei professionisti, ognuno con le sue motivazioni per indossare la divisa e essere volontario in missione all’estero. Motivazioni che vanno rispettate, visto che nessuno conosce tutti i militari di persona e le loro storie.
Quindi, lutto per i sei caduti in un lavoro che si chiama guerra in un cantiere che si chiama campo di battaglia.

(Faccio notare che in occasione di un precedente attacco che ha riportato fortunatamente solo feriti, uno di loro intervistato ha detto più o meno le stesse cose: “Noi abbiamo questo rischio come l’operaio si prende il rischio di cadere dal ponteggio. Non c’è differenza”. Quindi non sono solo io a pensarlo…)

Ciodetto, per chi sbotta e rivorrebbe i soldati a casa domani e per coloro che hanno bisogno di qualche morto per accorgersi che i militari combattono, consiglio di documentarsi un pochino. Scommetto che sanno a malapena cosa è successo in quelle zone, cosa facciano là le missioni internazionali eccetera.
Altrimenti non mi spiego come un semplice nome possa cambiare la loro opinione su una cosa così articolata.

Per chiudere, ho visto pubblicazioni di qualsiasi cosa in questi giorni: dal link al video dei funerali di Stato a vignette varie o interviste più o meno “toccanti” con le solite domande da giornalisti di tabloid ai famigliari delle vittime.
Avrei preferito veder circolare video e interviste del genere che accodo qua. Almeno per avere un punto di discussione serio da cui partire.

Informazione su incidente aereo Montichiari

Se è caduto un CAP-10 (aereo acrobatico in legno 2 posti) perchè sia il radiogiornale di RadioRai sia il telegiornale di Rai2 sia alcuni giornali in edizione online hanno detto che è caduto un Piper (di cui esistono varie versioni, ma sono aerei con 4+ posti da turismo)?

E’ un piccolo particolare, ma per quale motivo la notizia deve essere cambiata?

Ethic

I knew that sooner or later I would have faced the ethical question related to what hopefully will be my professional field, i.e. aeronautics and military stuffs.

Finmeccanica signed in these last 2-3 years some huge contracts with the Libyan dictator Gheddafi. The last one, involving railways, had been signed by Ansaldo STS and its value is around 540Mln€. Two years ago Alenia Aermacchi signed for a big contract involving basic trainers SF-260.

We can believe that they only recognized our technical excellence and say “ok, pecunia non olet“, just close eyes and let things go. But in these last years relations between Italian government and Gheddafi had been too much close in my opinion.

Berlusconi signed what should be a cooperation agreement with Gheddafi that states that Italy whould invest up to 5Mld$ in infrastructural works in Libya as a refund for Colonial bothers (yes yes, with higher priority for Italian companies for the assignment…). Gheddafi had been invited officially for a tour in Italy this year…and our national aerobatic team will display over Tripoli to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Gheddafi’s dictatorship.

It seems that being friends with a dictator is acceptable for such a payback.

I’m not so sure…

…but…

the collision occurred in a VFR corridor (i.e. portion of air space where separation between aircraft is demanded to pilots in command).

Stating that that ATC is a jerk and probably he should deliver TAs to paper planes instead of being in Teterboro tower…I smell another big scoop made up by uninformed journalists.

NTSB will tell us more, I’ll post again about this.

Vienna, Breitbrunn, Bratislava

Ok, I won’t be neutral at all, and I can’t really be when I write about Vienna. First, I was there with a BEST course, and that’s something. Plus, if you think about classical music your mind flies directly to Austria and you know I really like that music.
And what about sweets and cake famous worldwide? I mean, the Sachertorte! Have you ever tried a Sachertorte? No?

So you’ve never tried a Sachertorte. Ok. Let’s keep on hurt ourselves.

It’s not such an exotic city, so I think most of the readers have already been there…but for those who don’t…just go!And if someone is missing something to see…come back

I’ve been there for 16 days to follow a Robotic Summer School at the Technische Universitaet Wien organized by BEST group Vienna and robotika.sk (check the link robowiki and then Robotic Sumemr School 2009). If you are interested only in visiting the city, I think that 5 full days may be enough.

Here’s what I’ve seen:

• Schoenbrunn (Kaiser Franz Joseph’s and Kaiserin Sissi’s residence)
• Stephansdome (the main church in the central square) and Stephansplatz and surroundings
• Tiergarten (the zoo!!)
• The maze near Schoenbrunn
• Donau Turm (and you see all Vienna from above) and the Int. Vienna Centre (super-modern district in Vienna)
• Hunterwasser Haus (can’t describe )
• The Prater!!! (just GO!)
• The Parliament
• The Spanish Rideschool (and surroundings)
• Stadtpark

And I’ve seen some other things that now I can’t remember…but I shot tons of pics

As written in the title, we spent some days in a town near a lake on the border between Austria and Hungary (Breitbrunn).We slept near the lake and we visited the nice town. Pictures of Breitbrunn and the lake can be found here.

We went to Bratislava also, capital of Slovakja and city just 70km far from Vienna. Of course, I have picture of that trip too
